Gaywood is a small, established subdivision in the Memorial area of west Houston,
just east of Highway 6. Most of the 116 houses date back to the '60s and '70s, but
new construction has begun to diversify architecture in the neighborhood. Deed
restrictions do apply, as governed by the Gaywood Civic Club.
The median square footage for single-family homes comes in at 3,372, with lots at
a spacious median square footage of 14,100. There are an average of four bedrooms
and three bathrooms in the subdivision.
Gaywood's proximity to the Energy Corridor attracts industry employees who
want both a short commute and easy access to all that downtown, just 15 miles
away via I-10, has to offer. Students are zoned for Spring Branch Independent
School District.
Buffalo Bayou and Terry Hershey Park to the south provide places to hike, bike
and boat. City Centre, just 2 miles away across Sam Houston Parkway, offers a
multitude of shopping and dining opportunities.
